Fall Arrives At Hillcrest Academy Homecoming
The air was crisp, the leaves were changing, and the sunshine was as bright as the smiles on alumni faces. Campus was buzzing as Hillcrest Academy hosted Homecoming and Alumni Family Weekend on October 14-15. Director of Advancement, Jeremy Ours mentioned that our community is one that values fellowship and how good it feels to have people on our campus.
The weekend kicked off Friday evening with The Steel Wheels concert hosted by Bad Angle Events. It had been a long time since the band (based in Virginia) performed in Celebration Hall and the turnout was reflective of that. A full auditorium of fans enjoyed the group’s unique version of Americana music.
Saturday morning the Hillcrest Academy Alumni Association hosted the Joetown Classic. The event included a 5K race, a kids one-mile fun run and other kid’s activities including an inflatable obstacle course. As is tradition, the overall winners received a pan of homemade cinnamon rolls along with their medal.
Saturday night the Hillcrest Academy junior class hosted the annual Pork Supper. Hungry alumni, their families, and community members were able to enjoy the traditional meal served to dine-in or as takeout. After the meal, under the lights, alumni young and old took the pitch to play soccer.
Ours said, “Our alumni and friends are so important to us; community and fellowship is in our DNA and it’s what makes us strong. We are thankful for everyone who joined us on campus.”
