Hillcrest Athletes Post Strong Showing in Letts with PR-Filled Night

The Hillcrest Lady Ravens placed seventh in the Gardner Wilson Relays hosted by Louisa-Muscatine Thursday night near Letts.  The two event winners had no time to spare as they arrived just as field events were beginning coming directly from a field trip to Des Moines.  Within minutes of arriving, Niva Helmuth won the high jump equaling her personal best of four feet ten inches.  A few minutes later Delaney Shaw won the long jump with a personal best jump of fifteen feet 8.25 inches coming on her fourth and final attempt.  Morgyn Nafziger also had a personal best long jump landing thirteen feet 5.50 inches beyond the board.  Marie Yoder placed second in the 1500 meter run in a season best 5:15.85.  Siena Stanerson placed fourth in 5:41.34.  Stanerson also placed third in the 3000 meter run.  Stavia Miller placed third in the 200 meter dash in new personal best time of 28.81 seconds.  The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Nafziger, Miller, Natalie Meganathan and Shaw placed third.  Miller teamed up with Shaw, Yoder and Stanerson in the 4 x 400 meter relay to place fourth.  Helmuth placed fourth in the 100 meter dash in 14.07 seconds and also placed fourth in the shot put heaving the four kilo metal ball thirty feet two inches.  Miler placed eighth in the event while Marryn Boshart threw a personal best in the shot put.  Boshart also had a personal best discus throw.  The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Tara Poole, Helmuth, Nafziger and Shaw placed fifth in 48.68 seconds.  Poole recorded personal best times in the 100 meter dash as well as in the 100 meter hurdles.

The Ravens boys team scored eleven points and recorded a number of personal bests.  Kale Bailey cleared the high bar at five foot ten inches to place second.  Bailey also anchored the two sprint relay teams that scored points.  The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Kayden Estell, Jack Turner, Enoch Adza and Bailey place fifth.  The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Estell, Cohen Nachtigall, Adza and Bailey placed sixth.  Estell, Bailey and Turner all recorded personal best times in the 200 meter dash of 24.27, 24.73 and 27.42 seconds respectively.  Adza and Turner had personal best times in the 100 meter dash of 12.82 and 13.52 seconds respectively.  Braden Hartsock took six seconds off his previous best time in the 400 hurdles placing seventh in 1:08.84.  Hartsock also set a new best time in the 400 meter dash of 1:01.68.  Nachtigall out kicked Hartsock in his first attempt at the 400 meter one lap race recording a time of 1:01.41.  Jeremiah Danker completed the distance double of the 1600 and 3200 meter runs.
